The Kazan Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan, is a Russian Orthodox church located on Nevsky Prospekt in St Petersburg. The design was modeled on St Peter’s Basilica in Rome. Construction began in 1801 and completed in 1818. The cathedral’s interior is reminiscent of a palatial hall, being 226 feet long and 302 feet in height. The interior features numerous sculptures and icons created by the best Russian artists of the day.
