The Valbergtårnet is the former fire tower on the Valberget Hill in Stavanger, Norway. It was designed by C.H. Grosch and constructed in 1852 because Stavanger had suffered many big fires over the years. The one in 1684 was so catastrophic that officials considered abandoning the town altogether. Obviously that didn’t happen, and today the old fire tower is a landmark and provides splendid views of the town and harbor.
