The Grand Hôtel, located opposite the Royal Palace and Gamla Stan (Old Town), is a five-star hotel in downtown Stockholm. It was founded by Frenchman Jean-François Régis Cadier in 1872. It opened at the same time as the Grand Hotel in Oslo. All Scandinavian capitals have a major Hotel called ‘Grand Hotel’. Since 1901, the Nobel Prixe laureates and their families have all been guests at the hotel.
