The Pitons – St Lucia

The Pitons are two volcanic plugs, also called volcanic necks or lava necks, are volcanic landforms created when the magma hardens within a vent on an active volcano. Located on the southwestern coast of the island, near the town of Soufrière, the Pitons are a designated World Heritage Site in Saint Lucia. The Gros Piton is 2530 feet and the Petit Piton is 2438 feet high, and they are linked by the Piton Mitan ridge.
