River Thames – London, England

The River Thames flows through central London. It is the longest river entirely within England,with a total length of 215 miles. Located on the banks of the Thames you will find the House of Parliament and the London Eye, and it is crossed by the famous London Bridge. The river is tidal in London with a rise and fall of 23 feet. The river contains over 80 islands, and having both seawater and freshwater stretches, it supports a variety of wildlife. The River Thames has been a subject for artists, great and minor, over the centuries. It is also mentioned in many works of literature including novels, diaries and poetry.
