Travel Photo of the Day 10-15-2012

Waterton Lakes National Park – Alberta, Canada

Waterton Lakes National Park is located in the southwest corner of Alberta. It is where the Canadian prairies meet the Canadian Rockies. There are four main lakes in Waterton: Upper, Middle and Lower Waterton lakes and Maskinogne. They can all be seen from the comfort of your automobile, but park the car and hike to the top of “bear hump” for a much better view of the Upper and Middle Waterton lakes. As you look south at the Upper Waterton lake, at the far end is Glacier National Park in Montana, the sister park to Waterton Lakes. If you look  at the lower left of the photo you will see the little town of Waterton where you can find some very nice accommodations if you are not into camping out in the mountains.

  3. One of my favourite hikes is in Waterton Lakes National Park – the Crypt Lake Hike. I’d definitely love to go back and explore some more!
