Vigeland Sculpture – Oslo, Norway

The “Man chasing four geniuses” sculpture is one of the 192 bronze and granite statues created by Norway’s greatest sculpture Gustav Vigeland. Frogner Park to the west of downtown Oslo contains the lifetime work of Vigeland. In 1921 he made a deal with the city in which he’d spend his creative life beautifying Oslo in return for the city providing him with a great studio and state support. From 1924 to 1936 he sculpted the 192 statues with a total of 600 unique nude figures. An afternoon in the park is a must on any trip to Oslo.
