Gondolas on the Grand Canal – Venice, Italy

The Grand Canal winds for 2 miles through the city of Venice. The canal is a main thoroughfare through the heart of the city and is lined by pastel colored buildings and palaces in a mixture of Byzantine, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles. The best way to see the canal is by boat. You can take a motorized public waterbus  if you have limited time or want a less expensive alternate. But the best choice is to take a nice slow gondola ride.
