ob Belvedere Palace- Vienna, Austria

ob Belvedere Gardens

The ob Belvedere is one of Europe’s most beautiful baroque palaces. The Belvedere’s two magnificent palaces, the Upper and Lower Belvedere, were built in the 18th century as the summer residence for the important general Prince Eugene of Savoy (1663-1736). He chose one of the most outstanding Baroque architects Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt to design his palaces. The palaces with their extensive gardens are considered to be among the world’s finest Baroque landmarks.

The Österreichische Galerie Belvedere is a museum in the palace with the world’s largest collection of Gustav KLIMT’s works. The art collection includes masterpieces from the Middle Ages and Baroque up until 21st century contemporary, though it focuses on Austrian painters.
