Centre Georges-Pompidou – Paris, France

Centre Georges-Pompidou

There are many beautiful and historic buildings in Paris. The  Centre Georges-Pompidou is not one of them. However, it is a very interesting building which houses the National Museum of Modern Art (Musee National D’Art Moderne). The building was extensively renovated between 1997 and 2000. The color coded elevators, air ducts, escalators, pipes and other logistical space constraints were placed on the exterior of the building. Blue was used for air conditioning, green for water, yellow for electric, and red for the elevators and escalators. Inside the collection of 45,000 works of art from the early 20th century to the present is second only to the New York Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art.
