Royal Palace – Oslo, Norway

At the west end of the grand boulevard Karl Johans Gate is the Royal Palace.  The Royal Palace was built in the first half of the 19th century as the residence of Norwegian and Swedish King Charles III (aka Carl Johan and Charles XIV of Sweden). The palace has a total of 173 rooms. It is still the official residence of the present Norwegian Monarch Crown Prince Haakon and of his wife Crown Princess Mette-Marit. Although the crown prince couple resides at an estate known as Skaugum located about 15 miles southwest of Oslo.
