Three Sisters – Blue Mountains NP, Australia

A few hours drive from Sydney, in the western portion of New South Wales, Australia you will find the Blue Mountain National Park. The park covers 268,987 hectares. The most famous attraction in the park is the Three Sisters rock formation which is best viewed from Echo Point. Erosion has created this spectacular rock formation but the Aboriginal legend is that the rock is in fact three sisters imprisoned by their father to protect them from a bunyip.

The word bunyip is usually translated by Aboriginal Australians today as “devil” or “evil spirit”. It  is a large mythical creature  said to lurk in swamps, billabongs, creeks, riverbeds and waterholes.
