Hermitage Museum – St Petersburg, Russia

The green, white and gold baroque facade of the Winter Palace is the most lavishly decorated building in St Petersburg. It was the fourth palace to be constructed along this stretch of the Neva River. Catherine the Great was the first in a long line of Russian tsars and tsarinas to reside in the Winter Palace. Today the palace is the centerpiece of the Hermitage Museum complex.
