Travel photo of the Day 10-1-2011

Crater Lake National Park, Oregon

Sunrise at Crater Lake. Why I was up this early I don’t know. Maybe I was still on east coast time. But it was definitely worth it as I sat out on the back deck of the Crater Lake lodge with a cup of coffee and watched the sun come over the rim. After the sun came up we had great breakfast in the lodge and then headed out to do a boat trip around the lake. The only way to get out on the lake is to hike down the Cleetwood Cove trail. Down was the easy part. But as the t-shirts they sell said, “I hiked the Cleetwood Trail, 1.1 miles down and 11 mile back up”. It wasn’t that bad so don’t let the hike back up discourage you. Being out on the lake is worth every step.
