Arhus Cathedral – Arhus, Denmark

Jutland is the part of Denmark that juts up from Germany. Arhus is the capital of Jutland and the second largest city in Denmark. The Arhus Cathedral is Denmark’s biggest church at more than 330′ long and tall. It started out as a Romanesque architectural style in 1201 but by the time it was finished in the 15th century it was a Flamboyant Gothic style. The altarpiece, dating from 1479, features the 12 apostles surrounding John the Baptist and St. Clement, the patron saint of Arhus. On top, Jesus is crowning Mary in heaven.
