Victor Emmanuel Monument – Rome, Italy

The Vittoriano (aka Victor Emmanuel Monument) is one of the newer attractions in Rome. Completed in 1911, the monument was dedicated to Italy’s first king. But locals despise the monument and have given it several new unofficial names such as the “typewriter”, “wedding cake” or “false teeth”. Below the monument is the Museum Risorgimento which is dedicated to the revolution that led to the creation of modern Italy. From the top of the monument you have great views of Rome.
