Travel Photo of the Day 9-7-2011

London Eye – London, England

The London Eye (aka Millennium Wheel) is a giant 443 ft tall ferris wheel located on the banks of the River Thames. It is the tallest ferris wheel in Europe and when it was erected in 1999, it was the tallest Ferris wheel in the world. The wheel has 32 sealed and air-conditioned ovoidal passenger capsules that holds 25 people and you are free to walk around inside. It rotates at 10 inches per second so that one full revolution takes about 30 minutes. When you reach the top you have some great views of downtown London and the river.
