Travel Photo of the Day 9-5-2011

Tierra del Fuego National Park, Argentina

A 20 minute drive west from Ushuaia brings you to the entrance of the Tierra del Fuego National Park. As the sign says, “welcome to the end of the world”. This is as far south as you can go on land so we hopped aboard a boat and headed out to explore the Beagle Channel. Along the way we saw numerous colonies of sea lions, fur seals and cormorants. The weather can be very nasty this far south but we lucky. It was a little cool, the winds were light and the sun even came out for short periods. It was a good day to be at the end of the world.

  1. This is by far the next place in Argentina on my list. I didn’t make it this far north but the plane left El Calafate and took off through the mountains here. I promised I would return for a hiking adventure someday. Great photo!

    • Thanks, after reading your postings about Patagonia I realize how lucky we were with the weather.
