Les Invalides – Paris, France

Les Invalides - From Tower Montparnasse

The Hotel National des Invalides was originally built by Louis XIV as a hospital for his veterans. The complex includes the Musee de l’Armee, Musee des Plans-Reliefs, Musee de l’Ordre de la Liberation, and the Eclise de St Louis-des-Invalides with its distinctive gold dome. Les Invalides was second only to Versailles as the most important architectural project of King Louie XIV. Napoleon’s tomb can be found inside the royal chapel.
